Attached is a photo of medallion(s) found on the grips of an early S model Kreigoff Luger pistol. Obviously the grips are not original to the pistol; however; they are on a GI bring back with capture papers inherited by his son. The graphic in the center of the medallion is a German helmet over crossed swords just like on a wound badge. Medallion(s) also marked "J R 173". It has been suggested the J R 173 is some type of division, unitt, etc. marking. My meager attempt to chase that idea down found possibilities in the Infantry units listing, but the "S" Krieghoff Lugers went to the Luftwaffe!?!?!?. A pebble grained black shoulder with a Luftwaffe emblem accompanied the pistol. Any information on the meaning and or significance of the emblem ![[Linked Image]](https://forum.germandaggers.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=download&Number=210941&filename=KreighoffGripMedallion.jpg) would be appreciated.
