So your vote is 3rd reich.... With good reasoning. They did have an organization for everything! Lets see what some others say...............

Never seen anything like that and I think it's a fake. It looks mushy (cast) and artificially aged. That eagle looks more like a parakeet! Did you find this one down the back of your sofa, Gaspare?

Maybe the Falconers Association could not afford big fees. Everybody from Ex-POWs to industrial organizations was signing up for badges, lapel pins, miniatures, rings, and probably the Falconers were small by comparison.

Besides, fakers usually go for flashy stuff.

But ... I guess it could be Military Parakeet Corps instead .... smile

funny stuff guys!! The detail isn't so bad at all. Goes almost all way round the ring. We'll never know if its real enamel or not,,,,unless the owner see this and wants to post! Box is old.. but can't find any 3rd reich military or paramilitary emblem that even comes close.

- but that ring was in an international auction,,,and it brought in pretty big money!!

Well, selling for a lot of money on auction doesn't make a ring authentic, as you know G. Look at those fakes sold by Ratisbon's recently. We discussed them here on GDC. There was an SS ring and a Luftwaffe ring, both fantasies that even came with so-called 'provenance'. They both went for big bucks.

Exactly my point.... Every auction has sold a fake / fantasy ring...

years ago I was in discussion with a German dealer who put out items over the weekend [something like that] on a big military forum and collectors clamoring to get what ever they could get their hands on. He would offer a cert paper and a lifetime guarantee.

A collector emailed me about one of the SS runes and motto ring he bought from the dealer... It is a fantasy. He asked me to write the dealer for him. I would not. But,,I wrote him a full explanation, enough to prove the ring was a fantasy... The dealer would not accept it. Wrote something about me being a 'charlatan [spelling?]... So I wrote him directly and showed him the man who designed the ring and the actual dies that made it!! A couple days later I was banned from that forum . '

Took about 2 months before a stroke of luck put me at the same local show over a weekend as the owner in NJ.. We talked and by Monday I was back on the site... The collector had also received a full refund,,,and thats all that mattered..............

,, So this ring.. More than likely a fake / fantasy................
