Post-war knot from Johnson. Excellent option, to complete a DRK hewer, for not much money. Originals are very rare and can cost more than the hewer

Due to how this portepee is manufactured (eg. see traces of glue) and my personal knowledge this portepee is a fake, due to my experience I even tend to my opinion it is total phantasy. I have "wearing" pics from one-of-a-kind edged weapons and/or accoutrement but not one (and have not heard of ANY) in which such a portepee can be seen.

I have observed a couple of types of this knot, all seemed to have the same construction that said postwar to me. Years ago I saw pics of one on a hewer that appeared to be tied and fused in place with wear. Looks wise, that one might have had some possibility of legitimacy but I never got to examine it in hand. I remain hopeful but skeptical at the same time that a good one will turn up.
