Sometimes the hunt for beautiful gems pays off, and this one is an exeptional example which i want to share with you. Its a honorary gift from the General German hunting protection Assosiation, district association Ahrweiler to forest Ranger Gustav Jansen in the association of the Ahrweiler district. This hunting set ( large hunting dagger with skinner, in German called "Waidbesteck") is made of the best materials available, beautiful ivory for the grips and large rosebud damast with blued and gilded panels for the blades. Lovely to see the Rose bud pattern underneath the blued and gilded panels. The guards clamshell with its boar head shows great details and it handenhanced, as the guard itsself showing oak tree branches which represents power and strenght. Its a true piece of art! Now a days the blade isnt completely mint anymore, it has a few black spots - pitting, but otherwise its just candy for the eyes. This Weyersberg Kirschbaum & Cie is a dream for the collectors of hunting daggers and to find a rare Honorary gift like this dagger is 1 in a million. Enjoy the pics of this honorary gift to Forest ranger Gustav Jansen, is a one of a kind!
Best, Ger

Very nice, great find. I like the oak branch guard over the hooved ones, never liked them really. Ed

Thank you Gents for the nice words. Well i have been collecting for quite some time and had damast hunting daggers before, but to find a honorary gift like this one is realy something special.
