Dave Admin Thanks Dave. I am not really a ring collector. I only buy them if they happen to come my way. If I like them. I only have a couple of pieces. Best regards, Richard

I agree with Spitfire,,, those rings are hard to find in good condition.... I'm not really sure it the pattern is WestWall or Front... But they always have the early dates of 39 or 40 it seems so very well could be.. mine! . Nice looking pattern. I don't think I have any or either the 39 or 40.. Something else to hunt for... I don't really go on the hunt to much unless I'm at a show. IF they come my way they're supposed to.. - Does anyone have one with Westwall on it? and either date 39 / 40? If so please post.. No doubt they are period and seem to be a popular early pattern...., Good catch Benten!.., G.

This is the closest I have: It's in pretty good condition. No hallmark but it feels too light to be silver.

Indeed Benten. I have wondered if it has been re-plated, or painted with very shiny paint. Or maybe it was never worn.

Stephen, that too I've seen in west Wall and Front! .. They are stamped very thin! If you really want to check if the plating is real here's a good check I've done before...
Find your wifes/girlfriend etc nail polish remover.. Take a 'Q -Tip' and just put one small drop on one end.. Find a spot on the inside band and do a small rub on it. Use only a little pressure, little twisting/twirling and thats it Stop.
IF its fake you'll take off what ever it is. IF real you can take some water and clean the inside ,,wipe it nice and dry etc. and it should be the same as it was...
PLEASE : IF your not sure about the test or not confident enough yet,, new collector, etc. do not do it! Go to any local competent jeweler and ask him to do the check and what does think about the test.. Jewelers have only told me the damage can only be IF its not real plating.. IF you go ahead with the test please let us know....
: Nail Polish Remover': It has Acetone in it.. Do a search on it so you know what your doing with it. Its a handy part of my 'kit'! I buy mine straight as I use it for other things.... * WARNING,,,It is VERY powerful and dangerous and I suggest getting the polish remover. It's been diluted to a safe level so its safe for 'persons' using it.. Its the way to go...

,,,what a great topic!..
OK, so found a tiny bit of a variant of the Spiral wound WW rings..
Has a small wrap at each end of the spiral.. Nothing crazy,,,but a nice original ring. [on German eBay]..

My most recent West Wall ring. A less common pattern but with a nice chrome finish, albeit some corrosion on the shank, and a cool cartouche illustration of a bunker and tank trap 'dragons' teeth'.

It's quiet around here just now. Here's another familiar pattern of West Wall ring. There are quite a few examples of this and other, related WW rings in this thread and elsewhere on the forum. Hope you enjoy seeing it, Stephen

Hi Stephen, I like the sleek Artdéco elements of the rings. Thanks for posting.
The date 1939-40 is in the constuction period of the Westwall. The rings were made as a remembrance for among others the workers and security soldiers. So just before the beginning of war in the West.
Then, the first years of the war, the Westwall was more or less abandoned ; the emphasis was on the Atlantic wall.
At the end of the war 1944-45 the Westwall was full in use, but no Westwall rings with or without a date?

Thanks Benten. I agree, it's a nice ring. I have never seen a WW/WF ring dated after 1940. I have wondered if the West Front rings we know were from the Atlantic Wall, some of them anyway. Yeah, the WW was more or less abandoned early in WW2 but sections of it still exist. I live near Basel, Switzerland and there are still a few WW forts dotted around in the countryside on the old border in Alsace through which I drive quite often. Stephen

I own a working die for this ring.. Apparently many shops made this ring as was quite popular! So pre war there might have been some 'reporting' by the original maker that everyone is copying their ring/pattern.... SO if you see this pattern with only 2 bunker windows don't worry IF everything else is good then so is the ring either 2 or 3 bunker windows
Stephen,,,thats is a very nice example!

Nice green glass West Wall ring to add to my collection. This one shows a bunker or gun emplacement in front of a forest and its dated 1939/40. Rings with a glass cartouche also came in red and black. There were variants in the pattern of the band too. Here are two of mine. Have a look through the back pages of this amazing thread to see a large variety of West Wall rings.

Here's another West Wall that I just obtained - black glass cartouche - courtesy of Gaspare. I now have a red, a green and a bIack. I haven't seen other colours to date.
I also posted a photo of my modest collection of various WW rings. Hope you enjoy seeing them.

Glad that Blackie went to a good home.
Like that WestFront in the upper left hand corner. Don't think I ever saw a glass WestFront,,that would be some catch!
A wonderful collection...thanks for posting..
