I created this thread because I just acquired a Zimmerstutzen object and wanted to see other Zimmerstutzen (parlor rifle) and related objects. I came across the German word "Zimmerstutzen" while searching alte Schutzenscheiben (old shooting targets). I have also seen Zimmerstutzen and related objects in the 1912 August Stukenbrok catalog and will post the catalog images in the future.

So, on 22 Oct. 2024 I won a 1935 Pewter bierkrug (beer mug) on the popular auction site and had seen the word Zimmerstutzen on the 1935 pewter bierkrug a few days before. The 1935 pewter bierkrug arrived today and this item is my best Halloween treat ever.

The lid is engraved with the owner's name: Konrad Blatterlein, the rim is engraved: Zimmerstutzen Schutzengesellsch. Goldkronach, above the shooting target with crossed rifles and fedora emblem is engraved: Schutzen Konig, below the shooting target with crossed rifles and fedora emblem is engraved: 1935, and below the date is a sun Swastika symbol. When I took it out of the box, I was very pleased and said to myself, WOW. Then I looked for a maker's mark on the bottom and found nothing. I then opened the lid and seen the maker's mark: "Georg Sturm, Bayreuth" in an oval. I found a link for the maker's mark and at the bottom right of the page was another 1935 military pewter bierkrug with the oval mark like mine. I hope the members of GDC will comment on my 1935 pewter Zimmerstutzen bierkrug and post their Zimmerstutzen and related objects.

PS I found 3 military records for Konrad Blatterlein on Ancestry.com but I do not have access to the actual images only the text:
"Bavaria, Germany, World War I Personnel Rosters, 1914-1918, Soldier, veteran & prisoner rolls & lists, Record information, Name: Konrad Blätterlein".

Hey Wetzel,

A very nice award. You should post this on the "Let's see something" thread. Best!

Mikee,

I took your advice and posted my 1935 pewter bierkrug to the "Let's see something" thread.

Before the bierkrug arrived, I was undecided about whether to post it on the "Let's see something" thread or start a new thread.

Now I am glad I did both.

Here are some photos of my original 1912 August Stukenbrok catalog showing Zimmerstutzen rifles, ammunition prices, an extractor kit for the Zimmerstutzen and some targets for the Zimmerstutzen.

I found this on Forgotten Weapons.com:

"This Mauser pistol and 4mm conversion kit failed to sell at Rock Island on November 30, 2018.

This 4mm “Zimmerstutzen” conversion kit was patented by one Karl Weiss in 1921, and produced by the RWS company in Germany. Versions were made for several different types of pistol, but the Mauser 1914 was a particularly suitable base thanks to its very easy removed barrel. The kit consists of a new 132mm long 4mm (rifled) barrel, four .32 ACP chamber adapters, a supply of 4mm zimmerstutzen cartridges, and a manual ejection rod for removing the fired cases from the cartridge adapters. The cartridge itself is basically a stretched centerfire primer with a 7 grain lead ball seated in the end. While just as accurate as .22 rimfire at short ranges, it is much less powerful, and can be safely fire with a simply pellet trap indoors without the noise and expense of shooting full size ammunition."

I have also watched the You Tube video for the same "Rock Island" weapon, and they note the wooden case was a reproduction of an original wooden case. The 1912 August Stukenbrok catalog shows the Zimmerstutzen extractor was offered in a similar wooden case for an additional 1.75 Marks (money).

After my 1935 Schutzen Konig bierkrug (beer mug) arrived I sent an email to a member of Zimmerstutzen Schutzengesellschaft Goldkronach but did not receive a reply.

So, I sent an email to the Goldkronach Gold Museum hoping they would forward my information to the Zimmerstutzen Schutzengesellschaft Goldkronach, and they did.

On 1 Nov. 2024 I received an email from the Chairman of the Schutzen club that went to my spam, and I found the email with an attachment today.

"Hello Calvin Wetzel,

I received your email from the museum in Goldkronach.

I am the chairman of the club “Zimmerstutzen-Schützengesellschaft Goldkronach von 1909 e.V.”

Unfortunately, our club history before the Second World War was lost during this time, but on one of our old photos from 1929 you can see a man called “Konrad Blaetterlein”.

All of our annual shooting kings were honored with a pewter beer mug from the Sturm company.

It can therefore be assumed that this is the mug of honor of the shooting king from 1935.

Best regards
Juergen Hauser"

It was so kind of Herr Hauser to send a readable image of the 1927 photo as the photo on their web site is not readable.

The web site under "uber uns" also states that shooting was suspended in 1934 due to political reasons, and I guess they will have to change that part after I send the photos of the 1935 Schutzen Konig bierkrug to the shooting club. http://schuetzen-goldkronach.de/?page_id=398
