Railroad-Water-Protectionpolice leader daggers are easily the rarest or at least between the rarest III Reich daggers.
This said it is a fact that we know very few about these daggers. Due to my knowledge (which I can kind of proof) about these daggers it should be gilded for all grades, therefore I personally do rule out the silver specimen beeing original.
I know that anywhere in the net there is currently a gilded version named generals dagger of the RRWWPP but due to my observations there is no such version.
We can´t take the EICKHORN sales catalog as a bible (think of the error concerning ov and diplo daggers), but in the catalog the certain dagger is shown with another crossguard than the gildded version shown here. I know (it is controersial but advanced colletors accept these as fact) EICKHOR on few occasions did use this certain crossguard as shown on the gilded version during the period. But when keeping in mind how period gilded versions of other EICKHORN daggers (or swords) do look like and how the scabbard bands of common Railroad-Protectionpolice daggers by EICKHORN do look like I dare to doubt if this is a period specimen. The pictures are not so detailed but I also would examine the scabard body itself if such kind was used by EICKHORN...
Just my thoughts and my personal opinion. Regards,

Thank you for the reply Wotan , I will get some more pictures but i will post them in the other forum relating to this dagger as this is the incorrect place for type. I will have to start a new thread in that area

Wotan’s knowledge and insight are always appreciated by me and a number of other guys here. His experience, especially with this esoteric model dagger can be of great assistance.

Personally I scrutinize these dagger as all being postwar and wait for something to jump out to me as a sign of authenticity. Probably the safest way to be with something this rare and often copied.

What jumps out to me on the gilt example is the color of the gilting itself which I’m not a fan of. Also, why would this dagger display a generic A crossguard?

I agree, Both of these look too new even though they have been in a collection for over 30 years. I will try and get them into the hands of someone I hope will help with the decision. I will not bother posting more photos until then, if at all.

if they are copies? then i wouild not want the fakers to see the traits they messed up on.
