To what unit can this bayonet of the Weimer Republic be attributed? L.M.240.The bayonet is long, not shortened. The blade length is 17 inches.

Vic I'm sure you will get a answer soon, but that bayonet looks to be a beauty. Hope you show the rest of it.

The bayonet itself is nice but the grip emblem is not original. Originally the grip would have had a six sided Weimar star with eagle but this is not what police bayonets of the time had. It resembles a Garde du Korps emblem, possibly from a sword.

Suum cuique serves as the motto of the Order of the Black Eagle (German: Hoher Orden vom Schwarzen Adler; founded in 1701), the highest order of chivalry of the Kingdom of Prussia. The motto continues in use in Germany – in the insignia of the military police (the Feldjäger).

Whatever it is, it’s not a police emblem originally on this bayonet. That much I’m sure of.

I believe it is just the emblem of the order.
