I have always wondered just how many different double oval marks were used during the 1st Model period, I have 4 early daggers and all have a different mark, I didn't buy them because the marks are different it just worked out that way.

Baz69, thes are wonderful daggers you do show us! Thank you for this. In my opinion, UNTOUCHED 1 model navies are heavily underestimated. Even you have "only" two untouched, and two with exchange pommel. Those with the exchange pommels are in my view historically very interesting and desirable and are a must for each dagger collection but do not come near to a really untouched specimen with "reedgrass" (round) pommel. I once have owned a very simmilar to your 2nd one in this thread, only the eyelets differ. I had been told by a navy dagger specialist that this specimen is a "textbook" untouched 1st model navy. And it took me decades of collecting to find it!!! Perhaps yours did come from the next batch of fabriation? Unfortunately the mm does not show clear if it is the same like on your dagger with hammered scabbard??? Congratulation to your navies! Regards,

Wotan
These are much rarer to find untouched with their original ball pommel than most people realise, so many had their pommels swapped out, I much prefer the untouched one's. The nuances of some of the parts like the eyelets and bands is a study in itself, one that I have yet to master fully but I'm more than happy to learn new things when I can, thanks for posting such a great example, I hope others may post their examples even if its not an Eickhorn, I'd certainly like to see some other true 1st models.

Thank you all for your comments, I find the so called 1st Model navys to be an interesting subject, very little information out there really, personally I believe given the time frame especially early on there must have been some sharing of parts between manufacturers, probably more so than later in the period. It would be interesting to hear from some of the more experienced collectors out there with their thoughts on this subject.
