Hello-

Anyone have any history on this vase they'd be willing to share?

The seller stated from 20's or 30's era and WMF with Paul Haustein being the artist.

The trademark shows WMF and Ikora under what appears to be a lighthouse or a old school house.

It's about 6 inches in diameter and I would guess brass.

Thanks for any direction/help.

I know that a book exists on the different patterns. It's based on the old catalogs. I've seen a few glass pieces but that's about it. If your just buying the single piece I doubt a book is worth the cost.

An internet search showed Silver marks which you are aware of and a number of vases attributed to the artist. Did not note an example like the one you show.
It is interesting. Noted a couple with similar colors.
Artist, craftsman, teacher, Paul Haustein, (1880-1944). Are the pieces artist signed?

Hope you find out more about it. I assume it falls under geometric art deco? Could it be Oriental art inspired?

Thanks for the responses Bret and Joe
.
Maybe the library will offer any reference material.

The geometric deco design may have appealed to some in Germany if it was in fact manufactured in 30's.

The makers mark seems to confirm 20's-30's from the little I've been able to find out.

I wonder if Paul Haustein was a casualty of war or old age.

Good question on the artist, during the 20's - 30's I believe 60 - mid 60's was around the average life expectancy of German civilians. Dropping rapidly in the 40's.
