My father was given this from a relative and he passed it onto me after I left school as I had a small collection of bayonets and swords that would be in the late 1960’s . But I remember it into the late 1950’s. Having read posts about fakes and made up daggers I would like an experts opinion. Sorry these are the best photo’s I’ve managed to take.

bob, after your first thread here, let me welcome you to the forum!
In the pics which are not bad at all and do show a lot of significant details it looks like you got a gem! All details shown conform with what is known of and is special for an original FHH dagger. Up to now I have not seen any fake which has been really convincing and did have all these special features but naturally such a high end dagger should be judged in hand by an experienced collector to give the final verdict.
Congratulation to your father´s gift!
Regards,

Thank you for your valued opinions. I don't collect anymore the FFH is the last one. I will check the scabbard bands for screws in the morning.

The scabbard bands have very small screws on the opposite side to the rings which are countersunk, they look slotted.

Hallo bob, thank you, that is correct for one variation of these daggers. Please, could you post also a photograph of the pommel screw?
Regards,

Thank you for showing the additional pics. Top screw is correct, slightly messed with but not bad!
The scabbard band screws also are correct only the one looks a little more messed with (the upper one looks better).
I do have the impression that you know exactly what you have, a very very rare and valuable dagger! Due to the fact that years ago several of them went into the east, here in the west these cetain daggers became even more valuable because therefore they did became more rare.
You told us, that you have stopped collecting daggers, but if you have THIS one it is like you would have them ALL smile .
