Even though I don't partake they are very artistic in my eyes, so If you have them please show them off here and would love to see them. Best!

Wetzel, I didn't want to step all over your nice thread, but if you want to post some more here as well that would be great.

A little bit macabre but it is what it is. It must be pretty old.

I found this listed on the popular auction site: Antique, Imperial German, Meerschaum, Carved Kaiser Wilhelm II Helmet Pipe. This is a very nice pipe with the original case. I did not buy the pipe.

About 30+ years ago I bought some stone pipes.

The 1st pipe is a Steatite pipe with tag that noted it was found in a cave in VA. and was a "Beavertail" pipe. This pipe has a dark patina on the top and the bottom is a lighter color. I also found that a small lizard was carved on the right side of the stem and was not noted by the seller.

The 2nd pipe is a "Vase" type pipe made of Green Banded Slate and tag noted it was from New York State. This pipe has a nipple at the bottom of the bowl indicating drilling with a hollow reed stem or bird bone with sand grit.

The 3rd pipe I bought at an antique bottle show is a 20th century Catlinite pipe of probably recent mfg. with bottom of pipe marked J.J.T. I would like to know who is J.J.T. the maker of the pipe.

Mikee, the castle looking pipe is made of Catlinite.

From Wikipedia: "Catlinite pipestone is a type of stone used to make pipes by the Plains Indians. It is also known as pipestone and is quarried in Pipestone, Minnesota. The stone is soft and easy to carve. The primary source of Catlinite is in Minnesota along Pipestone Creek which is a tributary of the Big Sioux River. Catlinite consists largely of microscopic crystals of pyrophyllite, diaspore, muscovite, and kaolinite, and traces of the iron-bearing mineral hematite give the stone its red color."

I think the pipe looks like an old brick chimney.

Mikee , thats a great collection you got there!!... A lot of vets brought home pipes and smoked the hell out of them, and sadly many just got thrown away... I have 2 somewhere if I can find them, I'll post..

problems moving entire topic SO,,,

One of my Great Uncles brought these home from Germany... 2 pipes and a part to one,,[just the bowl]...
Many years ago all were tried and smoked well whistle

I believe the big one someone had told me was part of a series of explorers [?].. The big one also had another brass ring at the joint with a small chain that attached the both of them..
