Hello Ricardo and derjager, very nice medals! Here is my grouping. The ribbon bar appears worn and soiled and did not come with medal. Mine has turned very dark, is it a late one made of zinc or "pot-metal"? Regards, Leipzig

Hi Roger,

Nice late war type Westwall, your's is a 1944 zinc made version, this version frequently has dark brown ribbons.

But be carefull, there is some late westwall medals with modern reposition ribbons on market today. If you are not sure about your's made UV and burn test for precaution.

Mine is a 1939 tombak made version and frequently has ochre or light brown ribbons.

Any more examples? Cased? Different paper packets? Miniatures? On a ribbon? smile

Hello, I think these awards never were awarded in cases, only in paper bags....or am I wrong?

Best, Lukas.

Lukas, good question. I recall older references to some early cased examples. Anyone know for sure?

There are definitely modern reproduction cases. Sold as such.

This might be a good chance to build a data base on West Wall (Deutsches Schutzwall), medals and paper packets.

Yes, I was kidding! I do not expect to see a data base. frown

Watch this space. smile I've got an example that's out of the norm.
I'll get a picture of it up this weekend.

Here are the pictures. Not as good as I'd hoped. Weather permiting I'll try for some better images.

This example came from a damp vet. family basement many years ago. Not that that makes it any more than what it is. Different.

Not much more I can do with the ribbon. Some kind of lime deposit from something laying on it. The ribbon is very fragile. The adler has been on it a long time.

The darker image is truest to correct color.

Perhaps we can still shoot for a database of images on the Deutsches Schutzwall. Paper packets? Inwear images? Parade-mounted examples?
