Hi all,

just bought the book from Wayne ( best investment for info, rather pay 40 euro to be sure then 1500 euro for a faked one )

My question; Robert Klaas did etch for multiple other makers ; Spitzer, Julius Krebs, Voos etc.

now everytime i see a Stuke bayonet the maker mark is Krebs; Etch provided by Klaas.

now i see a Stuka for sale by a german dealer, who is also attending the Gunzenhausen show on april 11-13.

i shall attach some pictures, glad to hear your opninons?

thanks in forward,

Rookie

Hey there Rookie,

In my years of collecting these, I would want to see this etch with a Peter Daniel Krebs maker mark mark not a Spitzer. Borders look a little too wide between etch and top and bottom of the blade for my liking. Also notice the maker mark appears much darker than the etch itself. Typically not a good thing here. Don’t get me wrong, it “looks good” but I would want this in hand before I would think of putting money down. See what others say but I myself would be weary. Take care my friend.

The pictures aren’t sharp enough to see detail close up but something looks off to me as well, almost as if the lines on the Stuka are thicker or cruder than normally seen. I’d only want to see a Krebs logo too.

Here is a thread with pictures of an original that you can compare details of the etch with. I honestly don't have much hope for the Spitzer!

I agree, I don’t like the Spitzer example at all. Notice the etch is also missing the Ges Gesch like on the Carl Julius Krebs.

Hi all,
Il have a Stuka etched bayo by CJ KREBS. There some little differences in the design with the Spitzer''s one posted here. But the main différence is the lack of the "Ges.Gesch" marking which in CJ.Krebs bayo is just under and at right of the left wheel of the Stuka. That proves IMO the etche is a fake one. Sorry I don't know how to send a close up pic. Regards. Pat.
