Those knifes are controversial. Do a search on "DJ knifes" and you will find lots of information.

The one you show here has lots of damage and has a reproduction diamond insignia, so it's not very collectible in my opinion.

You never have enough HJ-knifes!

Herman,

Thank you for the help on the HJ emblem...Yes I now remember Dave's discussion on these.Thank you for the reminder. Made during the period and post war for the outdoors/ hiking/ sport knife and marketed to the younger youth and then humped up post war with the HJ emblem embellishment and called a DJ knife by dealers and believers, more then likely due to it's small size to fit smaller hands. Whitmann I believe still calls these DJ knifes on his site even with no proof they were ever made specifically for the DJ.

I often wonder if any authorized knifes for wear and use were utilized by the Bund Jungdeutschland (BJD) or the other groups.Youth Defence Force or Scout Association, etc.etc.

Still unanswered questions, Mikee.

Watching this over quite some time, I believe that the smaller unadorned knives, like that above but without the emblem, were successors to the well known larger HJ knives. Cost reduction perhaps, or acknowledgment that the HJ were not going on the laughing camping trips anymore ?

I'm not aware of any official notices terminating the larger older knives or announcing the smaller ones

As to whether they were also issued to the DJ or could be purchased by DJ members , I'm open minded. They are not very fearsome knives as such things go.

BDM ? Unlikely IMO, but wouldn't that be a great photo to find ?

Dave
