I would like to share some cover art from the old German hunting magazine, DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK.

Most of these examples are from about 1938.

Inside the DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK magazines are more hunting art, hunting articles, equipment and hunting pictures.

These images are from DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK, Sep. 9, 1938.

These images are from DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK, 23, Dec. 1938.

This is one of my favorite issues because it has the F. DULA advertisement and pictures of Hermann Goring.

It also has fishing articles, and a great wild boar art drawing is shown inside.

It also shows what looks just like Goring's train which I used many years ago. A little bit of history.

G,

The artwork in these mags are from some of the best hunting scenes and animal artists of that period. Most are in museums and I have seen a lot of them. Just look at the fine art work on the front pages. All of mine date from 1880's onward..Fantastic stuff! I just love this style of art.

Of the 17 DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK magazines pictured in the beginning of this thread I was able to acquire 12 issues plus 2 that were not part of the group of 17.

I now have 16 issues of DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK from 1938.

Here are the covers of the 2 issues that have not been shown before. I have not yet looked inside of the 14 magazines that arrived today.

Regards, Calvin

These images are from DEUTSCHES WAIDWERK, 6 Mai (May) 1938.

This issue is the 1st of the 17 covers shown in the start of this thread, showing the Hunter on the left greeting the German National Hunting Association official on the right.

There is a greeting on the inside of the cover from A. H., pictures of Hermann Goring and other high-ranking officials.

The back cover has a color advertisement for playing cards.

Some of the issues don't show much, but this is an interesting issue.

Back in Dec. 2007 HUBERTUS posted this amusing cover of the Deutsches Waidwerk magazine from the Andrew Gates collection.

Note that Mr. Rabbit is selling colored and uncolored Easter eggs to Mrs. Badger while Mr. Squirrel looks down from the top of the umbrella.

In front of Mrs. Badger is little Badger Jr. and behind Mrs. Badger is her neighbor, Mr. Roe Deer.

Mr. Fox can be seen below Mrs. Badger's head in the background.

Thanks Dave,

I thought the cover would be amusing and maybe bring a smile to the members of GDC.

"Unfortunately for Mr. Peter Rabbit he was arrested by the Gestapo animals the next day for selling stolen chicken eggs.

Mr. Rabbit claimed to have bought duck eggs from Mr. Fox.

However, Mr. Fox was seen acting suspiciously around the hen house a few days before the incident.

The following week Mr. Fox had his wanted photo on a 1938 cover of Deutsches Waidwerk."

PS thanks to derjager for the LIKE.
