Basic training early 1964 - the M14 rifle.
Later in Germany - "familiarization" with the .45 Auto pistol and the M2 .50 caliber machine gun.

It appears that the US Marines and Army are looking for larger caliber rifles with more long distance accuracy and more ability to penetrate body armor. What about you ex-military from other countries ? I should have made the title broader
