Ryan,

A loose grip is a problem. Look it up, but what I remember is that to be saleable, Ivory has to be antique and less than 50% of the value of an item and have a certificate. Wait 'till TW gets back from the show as he knows the rules. That's here. In Canada, I don't know, ..... ......, eh?

As Dave states, they are RARE. I would imagine that Paul of LST would be able to give you all the info you are looking for.
Hope you had a good MAX.

Ryan, a beautiful looking ivory Puma. Shipping ivory can be problematic, particularly internationally. Paul Hogle will definitely have the info you need.

Within the US, I believe the ivory must have a certification that the entirety of the item in question have been produced prior to 1973 including any repairs. I’ve seen the certification once and am guessing the Tom has gotten work from uses some type of XRF to date the ivory.

Thanks I appreciate unfortunately I don't collect daggers anymore having sold my collections 6 times In July I found a presentation and dated rose pattern Damascus 2nd Luftwaffe now listed on Paul Hogles site. It came directly from the family of the vet had you told me 30 years ago that I would find a Damascus and an ivory handle dagger let alone within 4 weeks of one another out of the woodwork in Toronto I would have laughed but of course they come when I no longer collect
