Hey Gaspare,

Below is a translation to English of the above text:

"FRANKFURT - RÖMERBERGRING FOR ART AND CULTURE.

Gold finger ring in 585 gold. On the front the Frankfurt Römer (city hall), flanked on both sides by two Frankfurt eagles. On the inside the award engraving "Robert Taube 1937". In the original leather case. Comes with large-format award certificate dated 1 July 1937 in original folder. Hüsken 04.07.00.

* Robert Taube (1880-1964) belonged to the great personalities of stage acting during the Third Reich, alongside Heinrich George, and held the title of 'State Actor'; he made guest appearances at the Joseph Stadttheater in Vienna and in Berlin. According to information from the Frankfurt City Museum, only 3 copies of this ring have been awarded. Rarity and certainly not to be procured again.

S Vb,,,,thanks SO much...

But I just can't believe it.. This ring is horrible in both quality and design.. The engraving is also horrible.. I think the document is probably authentic,,,but the ring was made up to go with it..

For $800. worth of gold or so you have a $8000. ring box, document combo.. No, not for me..........

S Vb,, thanks so much again!!

Seems like Robert Taube, a Riga-born German actor who died in 1961 aged 80, was more of a local German hero of stage and film than an international star. There is very little information about him that I can find online.

I guess the seller reckons there is inflated value in the ring's rarity: only three were awarded. I wonder who to, and why. I wonder how many were made.

It'll be interesting to see what this ring actually sells for. Probably nowhere near $8000.....

Stephen

p.s. To find it on eBay, go to https://www.ebay.de/ Then just search for RÖMERBERGRING. It will pop right up.

,,,, one photos is standard blanks anyone could get..

The next 2 photos are for special rings.....

Looking at the Taube ring is looks like a unprofessional made it. I mean not worthy of the event it was awarded for..

Poor details all around inside and out.... I'm not going for it.. My opinion is the document is real,,and the box maybe period also [which is nothing special!] ,,,, the gold ring all went together to get the most money it can bring in .. For me no way is that the ring awarded to Taube.. JMHO...

- * Anyone else have an opinion on it??

The ring on WAF is a cracker for sure. Beautifully made. I agree with you Gaspare that the one that started this post looks like scrap metal compared to this beauty here.
Cheers,
Stephen
