The blade of this SS dagger originally had a Röhm inscription, which has been ground off completely after the “Night of the long knifes” in July of 1934. The blade shows grey and spots, but the motto and maker mark remain quite dark, indicating that the blade has not been buffed. It is marked “Carl Eickhorn Solingen “ with the neat “small round tail squirrel” logo, which was only used on Röhm and Himmler dedication SS-daggers.

The black ebony wooden grip is in very nice condition, it just shows an old repair near the top guards. Note that 90% of the early SS grips suffer from damage due to the brittle ebony grip wood that was used for them . The grip also displays a beautiful eagle and a fine SS button.
The guards are nicely stamped “III” for Berlin distribution.

The scabbard is the later plated and painted version, meaning that the initial scabbard must have been replaced at some point in time. It could have been during the Third Reich period, but that is impossible to know for sure. However, this scabbard fits its early Eickhorn Röhm dagger very well; having preserved almost all of its original paint. The fittings show light wear and like most, the ball has taken a hit.

The top scabbard fitting shows a small personalization “CW”, which is always a nice bonus on a SS-dagger!
