Looks rather promising, but you need to post closeup pictures of the chain links in order to authenticate any M36 SS dagger.

The red stains on the chain look unusual however..

the coating has peeled off from rust in some places. it's made of iron. I didn't clean it.

What I see here is an original M36 SS-dagger with B2-type chain. The US books call it type 2.
The blade is somehow the disappointing part in my opinion, being sharpened and buffed.

One thing that you need to check is the blade to guards fit, which is not shown in your pictures.

the blade fits snugly to the guard... there are no gaps.. If that's what they meant.

Yeah, gentlemen, sometimes you just surprise. Maybe your eyes are blurry:D The original daggers is called a copys, and the repro chain is called the original B2. The dagger itself is original, there are no questions about it, but the chain is a serial copy, made of steel. The Kulturzeichen sign is incorrect. This is no B2 type. Even assuming that an early Kulturzeichen mark was placed on this chain, it still differs from the original hand stamp. This difference was always on this serial copy

If this chain is a copy, than it would be by far the best that I have seen so far.

Could you show pictures of others, similar ones, as you call it a serial copy?

Herman

PS: Must say that the reddish stains keep bothering me... they do look like artificial aging

This series of very dangerous copies of the m36 appeared in Belarus in the early 2000s. The chain and connectors are always made of steel. Sometimes the chain links have a reddish coating, sometimes they don't.

Thanks TRex73 for posting this similar one!

This one's metal does indeed look unusually bright and again the brown stains appear!

Still an excellent copy, I hope that in hand these are less convincing...

I see what you mean about the wrong SS stamp, the open, square chain link (first) is also too large... (see pic of a C-type hereunder)

Herman, that's right. And yet, the ss stamp has differences from the same original stamp. I do not want to describe them here in detail, but they are. When compared with the original, anyone will see them

I'm holding it in my hands..If it's a copy...then these masters of such copies should be given a medal and a prize for excellent quality..I'm interested..The quality is better than that of classic daggers..
Maybe there were such chains made of magnetic metal? It's just a challenge... classic daggers
I wouldn't name the country....there are masters everywhere

Ollar,

The original B2 and C-type chains are always magnetic, that is not the problem at all.
