Had some photos to reshoot for the book so I went to the safe house... I have six case like this. Also a box with 25 cased/boxed rings,,plus a few groupings that include a ring in them. Moved them before this last flood thank God!
Bad photos,, but try and enjoy...

guys,, the close ups [and description details] will be in the book.. I have about 200 of just my own rings in the book! There are probably 100 more from collectors like you guys that contributed!
Each ring has to get a description and when possible matched up to a period advert and/or the period photo of it in wear. Mucho work my friends. I work doing it until I start to see double!,,,,and,,thats just the ONE chapter,,,so that's what I've been up against. But I and whittling it down a little at a time...

Period advert to match up to two or the rings shown on this topic.:

As I mentioned before,,anyone opening their 'vault' to visit their special ring please feel free to add here!

G,
On the first page, second pic. Skull with what we call a track or tread markings on the band. I know we've seen this on a few military style rings, but I've seen it advertised for sports related rings only. Has anyone actually seen it advertised for military style rings? Must be an advert for it or maybe it has been shown on here before and I missed it? Man are we geeks or what! Thanks.

Ring with gold plated skull and slant lines on band -

Years ago I saw a pre -war advert as 'tank tread' design band! and I've always used the term afterwards!
Now those rings with the wide band, separately attached skull are a old pattern,,and yes they have been advertised with other rings that are military related. ALL these rings we find interesting and like to collect from WW1 to now are 'Men's rings' and are usually advertised as such..

IF you have something 'sports' related advert I'm sure we'd all love to see it!, thanks , G.

Very nice collection, I am not into rings, but appreciate your collection.
Like the flaming bomb ones. I was under Ordinance when I was in the Army.
Sometimes I think you are the only one here.
Need to spark things up here somehow.

Ed,,, ring guys play it close to the vest! .. This is an old topic but has 4 thousand views!!

I was looking for something , saw this old topic and said let me bring to the top for any new guys.. Many don't search the old back pages which is a shame because there is a lot of good info in them... We also have a lot of 'lurker' traffic....
- The hardcore jewelry collectors here , we have about 7 of them here and occasionally post even if a couple words.... I'll always be interested in the jewelry so I'm here... I wonder what the other collectors keep their pieces in? Cases like mine, a box with cloth? Any member want to show their collection,,, whether 3 pieces or 300 please ,,post a group shot,,doesn't have to be super detailed just so other get an idea how we keep our collections..

- As I look around here and the other sites, yes things are slow.. But they are slow all over. We have subject areas here that haven't been posted in years. A couple of the other forum sites also have very little traffic. High prices, no money, no interest, no new blood, lack of available pieces to buy, etc it happens to all hobbies everywhere... Yeah gets slow for a while,, then a member makes a find/buy and they'll post. Its really hard right now to find anything reasonable to buy!
