I have always been almost as interested in SS dagger hangers as the daggers themselves.
As most SS collectors know, the daggers were issued with a short strap hanger. It was satisfactory if you were standing still, but if you were walking or marching you had to hold it. This led to a variety of improvised hangers and eventually to the standardized vertical hangers. I have some of each, but it is those improvised hangers which are most interesting. One of these days I will do a topic on SS hangers, but in the meantime I'd like to see any SS hangers you have so I can include them, with credit to you, in my topic.

A friends collection, it was once much more extensive.

Thanks, Gary,
It looks like "Diplomat" 's collection. Can some be photographed separately ?

Super nice collection. I have the one second to the left. It came with my M36. You rarely see any of them for sale at all anymore.

Thanks much Gary, and thank the collector for me as well.
Any one else ? I'd like to get more samples to make a good topic here.

Here is a rare vertical hanger that also has a dual use at a 45 degree carry angle
Also seen in Tom Wittmanns SS Reference page 632 and 633
Dave has personally seen this hanger in hand at a past Max Show

Thanks Larry,
The very interesting thing about this hanger is that it is a handmade copy of a similar one commercially made for he SS and the SA and stamped DRGM

Thanks a lot Piper and welcome to GDC. It is unusual to see marked SS belt loops and even more unusual to see a belt loop and vertical hanger by the same manufacturer and same year. Got any other SS goodies to show us ? Dave Admin

Hi Dave.
Thanks for the comment.
SS hanger only this one. Have SA Feldhernhalle hanger and different daggers but not for this chapter probably.
Best regards. Andrew

Adding in a few early SS verticals I recently picked up in the past few months. Very similar buckles and clips. One of the clips is DRGM marked.

Thanks Kris,
I call those "dog leash clip" verticals. Great catch.
Could you send or post higher rez closeups of the buckle and where the clip joins the hanger ?

thanks, Dave
