Seems that this guy was the Police President of Nuremberg and the item for sale is his honour ring. It's a beauty. "Benno Martin (1893 - 1975) - an honour ring of the police president of Nuremberg High-quality gold work, silver with applied golden coat of arms of the city of Nuremberg and golden Nuremberg Funnel, a golden police eagle on the seal surface. The shank inscribed with "Uns. Chef in steter Erg. gew. die Nasta Nürnberg" (tr. "Dedicated to our chief in continuous devotion, Nasta Nuremberg"). Complete with a silver-plated case (the inside lined with blue velvet)". You can find it in the Alamy website. this ring resembles another ring - an honorary citizen of Munich, it seems that's what it's called, it was also discussed here earlier

I wondered about that too, Gaspare. Without rock-solid provenance, one-of-a-kind rigs are kinda hard to authenticate.
