I've done pretty good at the big shows.. but not lately... For me to get 7 rings is a big deal for me!

I have always been deficient in Legion Condor / Spanish Civil War rings... Hitler really thought that IF he helped Franco that when he needed help Spain would join the Axis [Germany,Italy,Japan]. To his surprise Franco wanted no part in a world war.. Hitler was furious!

So,,here is one small grouping I got..
There is a photo ID reactivating a reservist. Also a small cloth patch,,and a really nice silk mini flag [very good quality] a small metal lapel pin,,,and,,,,a boxed Falangist ring in unissued condition. No enamel, paint. Might be silver. Spain wasn't big on hallmarking small silver items so I will have this tested..

,, This one I'm still a little bit in awe of.. For us ring collectors we all have this pattern both with rivet and without.. But not in this good of a condition! , IF you do then congrats because they were a popular and usually well worn ring:

That’s quite a haul, Gaspare. Congratulations! I love the Falangist ring. I have several Condor Legion rings that I posted here previously. Here is one:

Well, I will still update,,,rings that are in better condition. Could not pass up the H.G. div ring,,was the only color I didn't have..

Also As I mentioned I've always been short on the LC/Spanish civil war rings. Now,,I'm fine. ,. Have testing to do, research etc.

Now I am only missing 2 different specific patterns that one day hope to find, other than that, I leave the ring collecting to you guys... Go get them,,happy hunting!

Dave,, I got rid of many rings.. Still hold on to about 300 and related items, in wear photos, dies, documentation, period publications and my research..

My desired rings? One is close to a wedding band type,,the other a rare SS pattern I've never had.. Exact descriptions,,sorry but thats confidential. everyone has their dream pattern they want. Sometimes they get it,,sometimes it eludes them their whole collecting career.
Never thought I'd get a HG div ring,,but there it was at little 'ole York!,,same with the Spanish rings.. Sometimes they come to you,,sometimes they don't.....Patience and right place at right time always wins out...

in the complete haul photo you might notice a PC.. He is a Luftwaffe officer. Nice card,,he's wearing a flyers badge and something about the shoulder strap the dealer was going on about. He wanted way too much for it.. Whats great now days is that its a buyers market. I paid about a little over half.... I don't care about any of it,,,only whats on the finger!

This is only a preliminary blow up.. I got to clean, edit it and it will be much clearer, better, etc.. Skull for sure. Maybe with oaks on each side.....

Interesting haul and very interesting photo. He has the Pilot's Badge and a Long Service Ribbon for 4 years (silver eagle) or 12 years (gold eagle) service. His rank is Unteroffizer (sergeant) and the shoulder strap has an "L" cypher identifying him as an instructor. That is a rare shoulder strap cypher wink

The Luftwaffe, how very interesting.
Always makes me wonder how our Aces would have fared if they were allowed to stay in the air.
Great photo,
Ed

- Vern,,,thanks for the information! Everyone liked the PC,,for me its the finger!.. Yes thats the sports badge.. I think the wreath of the flyers badge is in gold with silver eagle IF that matters....

, Ed, I've always wondered that too!, I bet we'd have kicked some ass!!

,,,, I'm finding out that the silk mini flag is a Burgundy Cross,,very high quality silk and manufacture. It is on some of the other pieces too.

I have some good reports so far with the Spanish rings being Spain's civil war period! and rare...Very happy with that..

- Those series of rings Luftwaffe [oaks on sides] went pretty late in to the war.... I have yellow color [flyers +] , Red =Flak,,Blue=, Administration [?], and Black=,[can't remember]!

White yes H.G.div. and rare.. Good shape , in oxidized with a silver wash over for highlights. The white cartouche looks good condition. but its difficult to photograph [flashing]. In reality,,it has pretty bad enamel cracking.. I'll have to set up my mini photo studio for better photos for my project. When I do it I'll put some up here..

* - Can anyone confirm the Blue is Admin? and what the black is.. I have it down but can't get to it now... Anyone with any other colors??

The Waffenfarbe Guide in the GDC Reference Library has all the colors defined. But to answer the question, for the Luftwaffe, Blue was Medical Staff, Black was Air Ministry Staff or Engineers, and Brown was Signals. Administration was Green.
