That's a nice ring, and a known pattern. Not often we see a green glass eye. The band looks thick to me though, for a WW2 period ring. Is it silver? Is it cast?

Yeah it wants to be WWII German real bad.. But it isn't.
For various reasons which only some are: ,as mentioned too thick a band. Very poor mushy details all over it ,teeth,,eye sockets,,bones, etc. Eyes closed behind, And I'm not a big fan of the open band spaces.Only a few patterns had the feature, [see pinned skull topic]..
Its a old ring,,its just not WWII old. Nice,, a good wearer, has some value as a 'Mens ring' or 'premium ring'......
These 2 have open band spaces..

Thanks for the responses. Mike, I don't think it is silver.
Gaspare, I think you nailed it! What year is that ad from? I think that is what I have. I didn't pay much so I figured it was worth a spot in my ring case just for looks alone.

Lore,,yes,, thats yours. Those I'm pretty sure from early 50s 'Mens Magazines,, 'Popular science' , 'Field & Stream',Popular Mechanics' etc.
Most of the advertisements were from directly after the war, into the 50s, 60s, 70s, etc... Service men brought them home and civilians saw them and wanted them too! My Great Uncle brought home rings from WWII and always wore a skull or a ring from one of his campaigns , Roma, Anzio, etc.
Bentens pattern is old,a pre war pattern,,usually a alloy with a silver plating during the war.. It too very popular directly postwar and still even today!!

When I saw it in the glass display case at flea market, i got excited but upon examination I thought it was a later production. Seller wanted $15, and I gave $10. It must be worth more even missing an eye

I think it soo interesting that today, soo many people can be interested in a $10 ring. It is really a cool piece. And most of the rings here are. Us dagger guys buy something for $800 to $1000, and everybody chops it to pieces. ??????? I should get into rings. Ed
