We are practicing an interesting hobby.
A couple of days ago, I was looking at some Haenel SA's and as usual I divided them in the black and the grey applied marks.
But looking closer this time, i noticed that these are actually 2 different marks... it is not just the color!
Check out the second picture: the lettering is different in size and also in the font used. It is comparing 2 ground Röhm daggers.
Show us which Haenel mark your daggers are marked with!
Best regards,
Herman

Thanks, Herman,
Interesting things are still appearing as people study daggers closely. Above the one on the right is a ground Rohm. Is that sharper etch just found on Rohm daggers ?

Hello Dave,
Yes, I personally only found the "sharp black" mark on Röhm dedication blades. But I understood that other collectors (Vern?) also observed that mark on regular early Haenel SA's.
Hope that some more will be posted here?
Herman

From what I have been able to observe so far, the "sharp and black" mark appears to be scarcer than the "grey" one... only 1 "sharp and black" for each 4 "grey".
Wonder if that could be confirmed?
Herman

Here were two I had in my collection...both were GRs Just a casual observation, but from the images posted, the difference in Haenal TMs may be attributed to the gau/district where they were issued (i.e. Sa vs Th)

Thanks Fitzer,
For posting these Haenels, one of each mark!
Excellent obeservation about the link with the "gau"-stamp.
But here is a "Th" Thuringen dagger with the grey Haenel mark...
Best regards,
Herman

Unless Haenel had different assembly factories or we misunderstand the assembly and later stamping process "the difference in Haenal TMs may be attributed to the gau/district where they were issued (i.e. Sa vs Th)"would be hard to explain.

Interesting observation, Herman.
Here is mine Haenel, Gruppe Mitte. Thanks Finngaill, For posting your interesting Haenel SA-dagger, they are not often seen with the "Mitte" stamp! Also, your mark appears to be the "grey" variant, but it is actually black from what i can see? Best regards, Herman

Interesting to know the Gruppe Mitte stamp is not so often see on Haenel daggers.
You are corect, it is black. I took photo on the daylight today, on photo it looks more darker than on hand.
Ps. Sorry for the late responce Herman.
