Hi all!
And another skull ring for discussion.
Have only these photos. From these photos it’s repro or maybe original?

A good , known period pattern.. A popular ring. They are in adverts, in wear photos etc. Also another of the most counterfeited rings out there.

There are always 3 or 4 on German auctions. Not because they are a common ring [no period ring is common anymore] , but because they are fakes..

So in these photos I see a couple things I like,,and a couple I do not like... At first glance it looks like a nice worn Skull ring.. Worn in the key word...

- This area in red is worn.. The problem is those that own a authentic pattern can tell you this area is well below the bones and other areas. The detail is gone. [the other side too] For this to be the bone ends and other area would have to be worn down to almost nothing, even the skull itself,,,and they aren't!

This next photo also shows a spot that has no detail and worn when it shouldn't be.. It is subtle to the eye but it is a problem.. With a few patterns you really got to be a detective. Check detail, wear etc. and comparisons... --- I do like the nose, the thin band, and inner where content mark is... [the rest of the inner band should be very smooth on this one]

The red on top of the bone. Is that a casting fault? Couldn't say for sure. I've had mine since the 70s. Seen many. Don't remember this fault...
- It might be from the working die. I am sure there were many made and they get worn and damaged etc.
But the real problem for me is that lack of detail, the wear below surface... Am my being overly critical?, maybe... IF this is a cheap $75. ring go ahead and take a chance,,if fake you got a good wearer.... Just my own opinion,,I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy this.. In the end everyone must make up their own mind....

My best advice, - * You should check other examples. - There should be one in the Skull Ring topic pinned at the top.

Anyone else have this pattern? Come on guys,,have a look,,does this pass for you as authentic? A one looker?

thanks Gaspare! Your arguments are the best smile
I also pay attention to the atypically worn part near the skull

I don't like the different size of the eye sockets too
It 115$ and I'd rather look for another ring

It’s 100% fake, found same ring with the same moments on auction, but it cost 20$ and have “copy” status.

Upd: now I see a lot of difference with ring from the first post, but it have a couple identical moments with this ring
