Hello there! I’m newbie in the ww2 German ring, but these rings is very attractive for me.
Can u say anything about this ring? Somebody tell it’s a cast copy, but I didn’t see any points of cast piece. I compared this ring with about 10 rings, recognized as original and can’t see any difference

42,,, Welcome to the forum.... They reproduce this ring so well now... The line inside [behind skull] many will say immediately 'its a casting mark ,no good'... BUT, it could be a fault from the press.. I see things I like,,and a couple I don't like..

First,,,,,Try and post a good photo of the hallmarks from inside band... Early patterns of this ring had a Ln mark at the end of the hallmark line. That was a early mark that meant the ring was finely finished.
Even with wear the Ln should be pretty clear as its below the band surface.. The counterfeiters find a real nice example and copy it so its not so easy to determine anymore..

It’s very hard to catch the angle, but now I see something like “Ln”

The line inside the skull is ok, this type of rings have this line, it’s not fault:

all stamps eventually get worn..

So, between a not such a great spot, and not the best of stamping it doesn't look so bad... For myself,,,IF I had to go from these photos alone I'd say its good.....

Please, members,,anyone see problems bring them up for observation/discussion.... This is getting to be one of the tougher ring patterns to authenticate by photo as the counterfeiters are really doing a few patterns Very well now...

The thing about this pattern is that they're so heavily forged. If you really wanna make sure you get an authentic one then get a good one with clean details and less flaws. Laurin is a quality stamp.

IMO
The ring with rust on it is a no for me, .835 silver doesn't turn into that color unless it's been compounded with iron. And the ring that has the black dots above the silvermark is also a no for me, looks like it's been casted and not stamped. .835 silver is pretty sturdy, I can't find any reason for it to get those markings in that spot for wearing it or if it just been laying beneath the earth.

yes the Laurin mark is a early mark signifying very good quality and finish.. You'll see nice thin bands and well polished inner bands.... Problem is there are a few counterfeit Laurin stamps out there,,I have seen them..

So when you see the mark that too must be nice and clear, readable etc even if worn...

These 'Pirate Skull' rings are a good known pattern and very popular with collectors. Take your time and be careful when buying!
