I recently inherited (From what I've found SO far) A german heer dagger, I was told my great great uncle killed the man that had this knife in WW2 and there even seems to be a blood stain on the sheath (Looks like blood but I'm not 100% sure if it is or not). I just would like some general info on this certain dagger to see if its genuine or made some sort of reproduction! Thank you guys in advance for who ever may be able to share some info. Here is some photos: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/d547cmfpg050vt2/AAAtLXzt659hvJzBf7HRezOya?dl=0

That is actually a 2nd Model Luftwaffe dagger. The stain in the photo is just corrosion were the plating has lifted. These dress daggers were not usually worn in combat wink

Interesting.

The dagger should have a maker's name or trademark at the top of the blade. Could you post a shot of that please.

There seems to be no markings or identification anywhere other than 4 letters on the metal tab that connects to the end of the straps

Those probably say D.R.G.M.

Nothing on the blade ... maybe up under the eagle or on the back ?

Looks like a WKC piece based on the scabbard band fittings
