Does anybody out there make a high quality SS Dagger reproduction equivalent to Evgeniy's honor ring reproduction?

Furthermore, I'm new to SS daggers; what are the going prices for SS Daggers in 'good' condition?

Better count on $3000 for a nice RZM, and $5000 to $6000 for a nice maker marked SS, nothing fancy or special.
Don't know of any quality repos, fakes pop up all the time though, you could follow them and find out the prices, but you would have something really not worth much.
Save for the real thing, my opinion.

ABT,

Quite a few people make high quality reproduction SS daggers . The problem is that they trying to sell them as the real thing grin.

I agree on the pricing mentioned above.

Thanks, you're probably right! That's expensive, but the real thing would be better for sure.

That is indeed a problem! I would buy one if it was specifically produced as a high quality 'authentic' repro and sold that way. cool

Not as good as the real thing of course, but good enough for my purposes.

Hello ABT,

Producing a high quality honor ring is one thing: it is produced out of 1 and the same material, 800/1000 silver, with some hand finishing and and engraving on the inside. I suppose that any well skilled goldsmith could make one...

A SS-dagger is quite a different thing: many materials are involved in making one: a high quality, polished steel blade, a (ebony) wooden grip with a metal eagle and an enamel inlaid (SS button), nickel-silver guards, a steel anodized sheet with runners and a lead weight inside, nickel silver (or plated iron) scabbard fittings and carrying ring, a leather hanger, ...

Making the exact copies of all these parts never has been a big success... so far!

Best regards,

Herman

That is a fair point, thanks for the explanation!

Would take a lot a dedication and effort to get a reproduction 'right' in that case. I suppose I won't be holding out. smile
