Thought I would start this thread on US bullion patches and items!
I always thought stuff was beautiful!
I have a weakness for this stuff!
I have put in collectors corner for your pleasure!
Please show your stuff and talk about it!
Love Army Air Corp and China Burma!!

Beautiful bullion embroidery.
Here is some nice bullion embroidery found on an identified USN Naval Engineer Officer grouping that I acquired from the estate of a local collector. This set includes his Naval Academy uniforms as well as some of his later uniforms from between the wars. This fellow shows the sleeve insignia for an Engineer who builds wharves and docks.

Thats a great group! What yr at naval acd!
You know collectors US bullion stuff is still affordable!
I know some is higher due to rarity!
But lets say 50.00 to 100 can get some nice stuff!
CBI is still affordable to collect!
My really good friend collects CBI and next time I go over I will snap some pics!

PVON This fellow was an Infantryman in WWI and decided to change branches in 1919. He went to the Naval Academy in 1920 so the NA uniforms date from that time period while the later uniforms and accouterments are from his service in the 1920s-1930s. All marked to him and still very nice bullion work at that time. I am also interested in US Constabulary and US Forces Austria uniforms. Here are some bullion USFA post WWII occupation insignia made in Austria circa 1946.

Scarfs are always nice! Some are private purchase and some are not!
This last A-2 back shown is A.B McCrearry USNR
Worn on sleeves and nice belly bands! Found at flea market!
A 2 jackets many times have worn out cuffs and belly waist material shot!
They can be replaced!
Many of the guys war them after war and kept them in trunks of car!
They wore them to death!
Rot is also something to watch for!
Inside liners took a beating!

So nice Vern! Quality stuff!
I have a question for collectors
Any one see the 1 shot pistol Pilots carried and gold coins in case they get shot down!
Blood Chits!
I saw a 1 shot pistol made in Cleveland a couple yrs ago and my friend bought it for collection!
It was not great condition wise but real! They have to be tough finds!
Maybe Vern has seen!
Gold coins? Anyone or add info!
Blood Chits! I might have a pic!
Tanker
Its your fault for showing that A-2 beauty!
I am now on a mission to show cool stuff!
Many pics will follow!
Guy even had ww2 shoes!

The Liberator was not carried by air crew. They were designed to be dropped to resistance fighters. They were design as a temporary weapon so the user could obtain a better weapon. Here is a good article on them: https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/the-liberator-pistol/Ron

Thanks Tanker
That is some very good info on this topic!
What about the gold coins!
Were they sewed in jacket and blood chit ripped off to be given in event of to help US pilots!
Were just pilots given them? Or a crew!
I do not remember the story!
Interesting to say the least!
Western Union Telegrams were something I have been wanted to discuss also!
Not sure when they started! WW2 and before the internet this was the fear of every family to get the knock on the door!
I like to think many things to discuss!

I believe all aircrew received them. They were well controlled though.
"World War II United States Navy Escape and Evasion Barter "Atlantic Kit". The contents of the sealed hard rubber kits varied in contents, they were developed for use in Europe and Pacific theaters and they were issued to certain airmen. Referred to as "barter kits" for use in case of an emergency landing or bailout in an unfriendly or primitive area overseas. The airman could barter in aiding escape and evasion in difficult situations by local civilians. The kits being of such value were a controlled item and each kit had its own serial number. They were accountable, and the airman had to sign for each kit upon issue and return as instructed if not used. Note: Gold value during this time period was approximately $25 per ounce market value."

Ok Tanker
Couple days!
EdThanks for looking!
I have always liked the stuff!
Yrs ago,If I did a show,I knew german sold!! Those collectors put the cash out!
US guys were slower going to the pocket!
Now I can sit back and enjoy things I have seen, owned and can learn about and enjoy!
The hobby of military costs money! Even back in the golden age of collecting!
I like lots of stuff but my wallet does not! Go figure!!!!!!
Now if I can get collectors to share and talk! Thats fun!
Ed if you need pics posted send them!
If you can't just look and talk!
Thanks to all!
