I posted a SS dagger in the SS dagger section asking collectors about who fixs these things now!

Well Tom W had a guy once and Vern said he can!

Very interesting info for collectors!

Manfred used to do great work and was on the site yrs ago!

He must be in his 90's now!

Not all daggers come mint and need a tweek We can't throw them away!
Just starting a conversation on dagger needs!

I have seen small edge nicks taken care of and such in my time!

Maybe others have questions!

Ivory keys Vern said on SS! Never thought about that!

Ivory keys on an SS dagger? Ebony fret boards from old guitars and mandolins wink As to scabbards, painted scabbards originally had a black lacquer finish. Repaint using several thin coats and rub out between applications (make sure the coat is fully dry). Anodized scabbards are actually rust blued. There was a company in Belgium that still carried the correct chemical mix but they seem to be gone now. After de-greasing the scabbard, apply the chemical solution and give it a day in a steam cabinet. Continue this process until the scabbard reaches the correct color. Then apply a coat of clear lacquer and rub it out. Edge nicks on the blade can be removed using a fine whetstone or water stone. if the metal is still there, work it back into place with a smooth anvil and light hammer, then use the stone. Scabbard ball repair and scabbard dent removal are whole other subjects wink
