Doesn?t appear to be a hallmark but rather it was paper (a tag?) that seemed to be stuck on the back many years back (maybe newsprint?) and the some fibers still remain with the remnants of some word looks like part of it said ?-rung? ?

I mean look at just this page alone at the WW rings shown,,some real nice ones. AND 2 new members Stephen and Edward Gary,,, welcome,,,and hope to see some more of your collections.. We seemed to lose a bunch of pages,,I thought we had in the 70s! ! but now shows 48....So there's still plenty of back pages to see so make sure you change at bottom to see all.. More important,,IF you see a photo or info inportant to you cut and past, save photo in case more dissapear in the nite OK, Summer's a bit slow but happy hunting and be careful out there!!...,G.

hey Stephen! come on get one / some of your rings up here! Don't have to be WestWall, anything is fine as long as it's old from the period 1920s to 45. Even a postwar ring, if its interesting manufacture method or military from another war, all good so post away.
Here's a ring I'm sure is already on here. It is a WestFront ring. A nice looking pattern. This one appears in fine condition. even the box looks period.

'Forgot you had it',,,man your getting as bad as I am.. Your way too young bro! Now,,it looks like a casting dot on top of the E in WEST.. But I don't think it is. could be debris, or from the die itself or even part of the design... The ring does look pressed. The silver wash looks good as its usually gone and nothing there to study. The band nice and thin and even? Mike a bit of advice.. These angles your taking your photos at. The are hindering opinions, study... Best is to put in on a piece white copy paper and take nice straight shots. Same with th side,,just turn the ring to side and shoot. A birds eye view is usually important, Seam, inner band finish, hallmarks. Simple is always better...

Yep thin even band, the dot looks like a spot of dirt to me, just looks like a dot at one angle but an impression on the other, I?ll clean it off tomorrow but not too much! Yes good bit of silverwash still there, but it has worn off a bit but not too bad !

Hi folks,
Here's a big chunky West Wall skull ring. Hope you like it. The silver mark is 835.
Cheers,
Stephen

Another West Wall design you have seen before. It is a bit scruffy but I like it a lot. I think that it is made of brass or similar alloy but you can see what's left of the silver wash.

Your other WW is also a really nice pattern , seldom see much anymore.. Can you see the rivet in the inner band??

,,,, VERY nice!. , Yes there are only a couple other rings that have a rivet like that.. Here is the famous 'Rivet Skull' that also has one.
Now your WestWall will also be seen without the rivet. It's still really there you just can't see it.
Your BigHead IS a big hunk of silver for sure. There rare also seldom seen... Yours has the stamped in hallmark they all have, and nice sizing seam,,,yours is a nice example....
- very nice rings ,,thanks for sharing them here on this topic for us all to see and study.... ,thanks again,,,Gaspare

Probably NOT Westwall ring or ... ?
The original Westwall- wire rings we know are much more elegant. The wire ring is one piece. This one isn't; the band is soldered to the ring. It is a kind of heavy alloy metal (German: potmetall).
I like to find out more about it .

Hau Ruck Der Westwall Steht? means free translated : ? Stand Back The Westwall Stands?.
This slogan are the words: -on this ring and also in a song of the Westwall workers -in a pocket-book from 1939 , title: ?Hau Ruck Der Westwall Steht : A foreman writes a cranky book about the men with spade and chop ?. A bit humoristic book .
I think the ring is made of a kind of alumimium and has a seam. There was a black paint/enamel between the letters , still present partly.

Benten, that Hau-Ruck ring is a beauty! Aluminum was a premium material thru out the war. Maybe a zinc or a pot metal if really light. Details real nice and deep. This might be already posted here. Member Gerd author of this great work informs me that a new updated edition is in the works and he'll let us know when done. He is the current magnificent works on the West Wall ring, enjoy: https://gerdhagedorn.de/58.htmlWow! as of 1-10-20 we have over One Million views here of this topic..

Regarding the inscription of the "Hau-Ruck" ring I found in some bigger dictionary the English translation: "Heave-ho" for the interjection "Hau-ruck". This interjection is used here in a figurative sense.

Gaspare asked me to add this to the database. WW ring with a Luftwaffe unit/squadron insignia. Period made. Research led to this as a close design derivative.

Mike, quite interesting item, never seen this ring before. Most probably coming from the LVZ WEST, East from the Westwall. Other ideas? Gerd

I like both of them. The WW spiral more than likely made within the unit [?] or in the field somehow..
I wrote on another forum that a few years ago I tried to replicate the spiral WW ring with some wire.. Couldn't do it! So I tried with a softer wire and still not real good results.. But after playing around for a day or so I ended up with something very close to this.. yeah,,I like both!

Hello fellow collectors,
Sorry first of all for my bad English. I hope you understand everything.
I registered here to ask for your help. I do not know if this ring is original and would like your opinion.
Many thanks and best regards, Richard

Welcome to the forum. That looks like a very nice, authentic West Wall ring to me. The link below will take you to an excellent article on West Wall Rings. The author is a member of this forum. Your ring is the same pattern as shown with #29 on p.16 of the article. https://gerdhagedorn.de/58.htmlCheers, Stephen

Dave Admin Thanks Dave. I am not really a ring collector. I only buy them if they happen to come my way. If I like them. I only have a couple of pieces. Best regards, Richard

I agree with Stephen, those rings are hard to find in good condition.... I'm not really sure it the pattern is WestWall or Front. But they always have the early dates of 39 or 40 it seems so very well could be.. mine! . Nice looking pattern. I don't think I have any or either the 39 or 40.. Something else to hunt for... I don't really go on the hunt to much unless I'm at a show. IF they come my way they're supposed to.. Does anyone have one with Westwall on it? and either date 39 / 40? If so please post.. No doubt they are period and seem to be a popular early pattern...., Good catch Benten!.., G.
