Very sad to say we lost member Jim M. a short while ago... Originally known here in the old days as 'Degans' he started using his real name..

He was one of the original crew from the MAX/SOS of trouble makers,,or in his case polite semi trouble makers!.. In any case a great guy, good member and I will certainly miss him terribly.

I am sorry to hear of Jim's passing. He fought a good battle against failing health for years. Always had a good kind word for me.

I remember the time he stomped a scorpion in his house and posted a close up. Turned out to be a super poisonous variety

I knew Jim from the early MAX Shows and am sorry to hear of his passing. RIP

Dave,,,,, WOW,, Thats Ric,,myself,,and Jimbo.. Don't know exactly when, but its a pretty long time ago cause I've been completely white haired for 10 years now... Thanks for the photo,,great to see him.......


Jim Was a northerner, MASS I'm pretty sure... He was originally into general antiques and specialized in Furniture early on I believe and moved on to firearms before becoming a nazi regalia collector. .. Somehow he got some military in a load of stuff and was hooked!

I was never sure of his collection size or his exact special interests. Maybe some of you have been out to AZ to see him. I know Kris L. had always been friends with him and they seemed to both move to AZ around the same time.....
- He was into the night life at the old MAX /SOS shows where we laughed and bullshitt*d the night away with plenty of drinks and somehow we were back on the floor of the show with sometimes only 3 or 4 hrs sleep!

He frequented the HR forum a lot and was a welcomed member there. He called a spade a spade which sometimes didn't go over big at the shows at the time but we did it with no regrets because back then there was nothing worse than a 'rip off MFer of a dealer' and we called out plenty.

anyway,,a bit all over the place but man we had some great times.. RIP Jim,, you earned it ... Thanks for the photos guys!

You are right Gaspare.

He was always more into guns than daggers. Those photos were at SOS 2005 or 2006.

What a shock to learn my old pal has passed on. Jim used to hold court in the bar of the old hotel that was recently replaced with a new hotel in Louisville for the SOS shows. We were all such good friends back in those days and the best deals were made in hotel rooms with guys like Jim, J.R, Pvon, and others. Jim was a Corvette man as well. A really nice all around man. I will miss him.

one time at one of the ''cocktail parties' everyone drinking , smoking cigars and whatever else... A dealer was pushing a Luftwaffe flag/standard type thing We were all so messed up we started saying what a POS it was,,poor quality, brand new etc. The dealer was going nuts at us and wanted us out of the party.
So it sells!! , but the next day he returned it!!

Another time a dealer had sold 'Himmlers stic pin'. Went for big money.. Was me, Jim, Tony S.,'my cousin Vinny', Kris L. and 'Johnny from Brooklyn' started saying what a POS it was.
- One guy would start then all the rest would bum rush it....
- It was a Victorian era black enamel and silver stic pin in its original box. It had no provenance, lacking quality, nothing but the HH initials on it! Marked 'Sterling' and actually a womans piece! That also was returned the next day and never seen again.....

- * Jim like the rest of us hated 'rip offs' no matter what it was or who was selling it. ,,Yeah, Jim was into antique furniture, Guns, Hot rods, and of course nazi regalia.. I was really hoping to see him at the SOS,,,,,but we'll see each other again................
