That’s a nice ring, what a find. If Kaack died in the Crimea, does anyone know how his ring ended up in the Czech Republic?

S VB,,,,, That is a great question...
He might have been at one time in CZ Rep. near wars end or time of surrender and ditched it... The Soviets were brutal and moved , tortured, questioned/interrogated etc. men from place to place, and then he finally died when moved to Crimea in 1947....
Maybe some more detective work could be done. Find out where his units service time was being done etc. IF, if he was nowhere around CZ then you got a mystery!

Good evening Gaspare.
Personally, I think the ring was thrown away before it was captured. As many other SS officers have done. Not all soldiers and officers ended up in American captivity. Many were unlucky and ended up in Russian captivity. Finding out where he was at the end of the war will probably be more difficult. In May, many SS units were located in the Protectorate and retreated under the command of SS Gruppenführer Carl Friedrich von Pückler-Burghauss to the US zone.
Here is a document in which the status of SS units in the protectorate months before the end of the war. The document comes from the archive.

Very nice original ring! If I remember correctly there was some confusion regarding the owner of the ring as all that is legible in the engraving is "aack"

Yeah nice! I remember some of Dons early CoAs would have a 'die struck ring' or similar. And now ,,he doesn't mention it at all. Many years ago the HR was a neich [spelling?] collectable .. So rare a thing many hadn't seen one and knew nothing about them. Don Did do the early leg work and I'll never take that away from him.. But now,,,well, he's going by looks ,,,like everyone else... He can't write a ;Nice die struck ring by Otto Gahr' etc etc.anymore,,,,
,,well anyway..
Congrats on finding all the paper.. It certainly is interesting,, and definitely adds to the value to the ring even if the guy is a paper pusher.... Great catch on the ring and nice work on the research.....,G.

Very nice research Stud! Very interesting history to a very interesting ring. An SD man no less, you would not have wanted to be on this guys bad side! As for the COA, the price is a bit ridiculous if you ask me, I am confident enough in my abilities to tell an authentic ring to be comfortable making a purchase of a TK ring without spending lots of money for someone else to tell me what I already know, and I highly recommend everyone does their own research so that they can save their $350 on COAs. Shoutouts once again to Antonio who wrote an amazing book about the subject!
