Hello and with respect for all members I want to buy this item from a friend but I don't know if it is real or fake. I need your help because I don't want to take something bad. Thank you in advance.

I don’t think there’s anything original on that item. It’s a complete fantasy piece, leave it where it is.

Dave HAPPY THANKSGIVING, to all. I know I did not learn much from that response. Ed Really not much to learn here. In order for it to be a fake/copy means an original exists, in this case there is no original to copy so it is not a fake per se but rather a "fantasy piece". Your friend may or may not swear left and right that its legit, inherited from his great uncle who took it directly from a dead Nazi ect but always remember, buy the item, not the story.

How can you tell if dagger is real or fake ? With experience, one knows the parts are not of the period nor do they belong together. Also with respect to the blade, that eagle on the ricasso is always a bad sign. It’s not just a fake, it’s not even a good fake.

How can you tell if dagger is real or fake ? What ever it is that you do for a job or a hobby and you are proficient at it...then you will know exactly if it is a job well done or something created. Research sharpens ones knowledge. I agree with Billy as well Regards Larry
