Welcome, Brodie, to GDC
You'll find all the ring fellows here in a few hours.
You might mention where it was dug up.

Hi Brodie Welcome to the forum. My 2p (my opinion): it is some sort of a modern skull ring design, with artificial aging. Absolutely nothing to do with TR period. Byz

Hi Brodie, I agree with Mike. There are numerous Third Reich skull patterns and you can find many of them on one of the pinned threads here. See link below: https://forum.germandaggers.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=327063#Post327063This is an unusual pattern and the band is suspiciously thick. It's hard to tell from the condition of the ring but my eyes see some casting flaws under the murk. And it does look like the 'ageing' is artificial. The skull on this one looks more like a modern 'biker' ring than a TR one. Do you know what it is made of? Also, for me, a ring being ground-dug means nothing, assuming that it ever actually was dug out of the ground. You don't know how long it was underground, and you don‘t know how it got there. Today's fraudsters think nothing of burying dud rings for a while then 'discovering' the with a metal detector. Cheers. Welcome to the GDC forum.

If this was purchased from the WAF estand and sold by a WAF member, there are moderators of each sales forum to ensure that does not happen. Fantasy or reproduction items are discussed and moved to the appropriate sales forums (eg “the Bazaar” or the “flea market”). If this was purchased on one of the tables that is supposed to be for authentic/period items only (eg - the “miscellaneous third Reich”) table, you should read the estand guidelines, and can contact the table moderator about your next move. In cases like this, my best advice is to have had your item discussed/vetted well BEFORE purchasing, as the seller may balk at a refund if there was no prior discussion with either him or a forum as to the originality of the piece. Not an enviable position to be in, but if you spent more than $50 on this, in my opinion, it wasn’t worth it. (Unless you love skull rings and this design and it makes you happy for what it is, not for what it isn’t (a tr ring))

I think this is a modern made biker skull ring that’s been artificially aged ,
Be aware , 99% of German rings for sale are fake or fantasy, getting quite hard to find originals , especially down under

Yes, I think if you bought it off WAF you could get a refund. You gotta check over there... The ring is/was also being offered on German eBay a short wile ago..
Where ever it came from it is a post war pattern....

I've seen this pattern, original one that dates before ww2, but it was much better quality and had proper hallmarks on the band, also it had different inside of the skull, I think this one is a replica / fake one. The quality is poor and the tarnish / wear looks to be applied with chemicals.
