Collectors
Do you think its time for some Luftwaffe show time!
As we share on german daggers the amazing items we all collect or had, the Luftwaffe pieces really stand out!
Now we have much to show and discuss!
Why not have fun and share items, engraved, colors, silver, alum, swords, daggers, display peices you add for flavor of a display!
Hangers, deluxe.plain jane, knots, hangers, bagged and tagged for the select few that have them!
Marked, items and anything you care to share!
Whats the best reference book on luft? Was it Tom W or T. Johnsons or who?
Where do you find your info!
Who has Knights Cross winner, items? Generals swords, minatures, you get the idea!
Favorite makers! Time periods,
I know I have never had problem selling a nice Luft item! Discuss prices! Most Lufts are still in collectors range!
What dealers sell the nice ones?
You get the fun of show and tell and the learning!
Thanks for looking and showing collectors! Any Generals?

John
Your like a detective in the finding of these treasures!
Makers many of us have never seen or found!
Being one who has found and is finding so many makers!
Do you see or observe anything different in makers material or quirks into these items!
Or do they all follow a pattern in the type!
Like possible gilding? handle material? engraving?
Unlocking the mystery of third reich edgeweapon making!
How many makers do you think made the lufts?
Did these makers make 1st lufts!
Have new makers been found that were unknown since TW's book?
Thanks

I only have 1 luft type 2 dagger left but its one of the hardest to find. Its the earliest production E.Pack made, guard and pommel with lots of handwork on it are made of aluminium but the scabbard has silvered messing scabbardbands! It bears the first style E.Pack logo 1935-36, its beautifully etched on a mint blade. Enjoy this gem, i love it
Cheers Ger

Bringing back our discussion and showing of our luft things!
As always thanks to all for making this thread fun! With out you collectors sharing or about to share info and pics!
A big shout out to you all!
Now as many collectors might want to know!
Voo's etched blades on Lufts is well known and highly prized by collectors!
They could be marked or unmarked!
What makes them so prized!
I happened to see on Lakesidetrader a 1st Luft double etched by Carl Julius Krebs! A killer piece I might add!
So for the many real in depth collectors of these things how about your thoughts on engraved lufts!
Anyone have pics!
Ryan Sellick has that luft engraved I just posted here but I asked him to show better pics!
One more thing I hope we can discuss down the road!
Hand enhanced, head, feathers, wings, top side Oak leaves and Acorns!
Maybe which makers did this with lufts!
They also claim gilted examples are drying up!
What say collectors!

And, there are two versions of the etch on blades without maker mark.
The difference is in the etch tip, sorta like a spear head. One is plain, no added dots. The other version has added dots

There exist Voos pattern armys with no trademark. I saw some at the MAX in 2003. The unmarked Voos patterns are out there but are definitely less desirable. They typically have an orange trolon grip, as opposed to ivory, as well. These unmarked examples routinely run half the cost of a marked example but are still nice enough, especially for someone on a budget. I got a marked Army a few years ago and have been very happy with it. The unmarked are for sure harder to sell.

Early small mark, frayed belt Early small mark, solid belt Large Siegfried with arch Large Siegfried without arch. Great to see all those Pack logo's John, some are very rare! Although the first style shows differences in style i more or less thought those are etch plate changes, rather then different logo's. Thx for showing and those Voos ones are beautiful, i wasnt aware of the different patterns that Voos used, thx for pointing that out. Ger

I understand the the unmarked Voos being harder to sell!
But
Unmarked Voos etched blades were sold through distributors and uniform shops!
Did other makers use the Voos style?
John and Billy
Can the trained eye of collectors of Voos spot a Voos thats not marked?
Thanks

PVON Yes, it comes down to the positioning of the etch template on the blade. A Voos marked etch appears on the blade further away from the crossguard (or nearer toward the tip, if you will), presumably to permit room for the Voos logo on the reverse. This makes sense actually. There was also something I read about some years back on an unmarked Voos regarding some additional "droplets" on the etch border closest to the tip. The marked Voos patterns apparently don't have these.

Thanks pvon. The number 274 is etched on the blade and scabbard throat. I assume they are a control/inventory number (?). The other drawers house my Heer daggers.

I am not sure. My favorites are the Heers but for the lufts, it may be the simple design that is appealing. I do like the 1st luft and sword too.

Tanker
I hear you!
My favorites are the ones in front of me!
How about some hangers folks!
I spotted these deluxe luft hangers for sale! 145.00 shipped!
Very nice set! Don't you think?
Price seems fair! Not much you can buy!
They sold very fast!
Lets see some!

If I am not mistaken was their gold also? Generals? Or just gold wash!
How about some knots!
I bet some of you hoarders got them!

And as always a shout out and thanks to all!
Your pictures are really nice guys!
Engraved blades, makers, and just the detail of items is quite good!
Makes the items come alive! I know its easy to miss details when looking!
Then as you go back and look!
I say hey I missed that and look at that! Sometimes collectors miss something right in front of them!
We get in a hurry to look but don't always catch everything!
I just started going back and sure enough! Looking closer and with more detail, these items reveal more!
Imagine at a show what we all miss!
On the forum we can study a object!
Thanks guys

PVON looking at the first pics of your latest post i have a question: did that Alcoso come with an army scabbard? or did you mixed pics with an army dagger with a late generic scabbard Ger

Gerrit
I had many daggers in front of me trying to take fast pics!
Sure could have goofed it up!
Trying to be fast is not always good!
When you go to buy!

Amazing stuff guys!
pvon, I am taking special notice of that early first model Luftwaffe dagger from Alcoso.. you don’t see many with that big maker Mark I also have one and think it is their initial production..?
John Z and Ger.. Amazing Pack Daggers!
Adding a few of my own….

Hi Billy, very nice blade. Is there anything stamped in the tang? I've seen a couple of artificial damascus blades that have stamps in the thang with "ECHTDAMAST" or "P + D" which I don't understand as it is not real damascus. cheers!

Joel, nice Durbeck.
I have a different Durbeck mark on an Eickhorn blade.
