Curious what you guys think about this specimen. While it looks and feels like silver, there is no obvious silver content mark anywhere. On the outside is an 'H.J.' mark'. On the inside there is an amateurish scratched mark that looks like a large 'H' with a smaller, backward 'S' inside it. It also looks like whoever did the etching inside did some other damage to the interior surface. Perhaps even obliterating any silver content mark.

Thanks,

Stephen

Thanks for that, Evgeniy. Would you please explain your reasons for your short, but not especially helpful response?

Plate with eagle - I see that is copy, cast copy, and back side characteristic step from casting

I agree, a copy.. Evgeniy is right,,those are casting faults... Comparison is one of the best ways to authenticate... Check carefully with Johns excellent example and its night and day.. IF not over polished, maybe aged a bit it could be a decent copy but still a copy...

Thanks, all. I thought that some of the details looked a bit soft. Appreciate your taking the time to comment. John's Norge ring collection is amazing.
