Dear forum users.
I just started collecting knives of the 3rd Reich. I bought two Hitlerjugend knives with authenticity guarantee from a private seller. The knife without motto is very similar to the original, but the second one has doubts about the grip plates, namely non-magnetic grip rivets and small backlash on the grip plates.
Thank you very much for your time and knowledge. smile

Best regards
Dan

Hello Dan ,

your two knives are Ok and I appreciate the marking LFS (Lederwerke Sedina Finkenwald) on the leather of the 1st one .

Congrats to you .

S+

Your Schuttelhofer (RZM M7/13) appears to be all original. Is the diamond wiggling?

I do worry about the authenticity of the Voos (RZM M7/2):
- Those alloy rivets are not what you expect to find on a 1938 Voos made knife.
- The stamped marking appears amateurish applied
- it shows a too bold diamond.

Is the hilt steel based (magnetic)?
Does it has full length or is it shorter compared to the Schuttelhofer?

Best regards,

Herman

Herman, thank you very much for your response .
I will add some more photos of both knives for comparison.

RZM M7/13, the diamond is wiggling,

RZM 7/2 Pommel is not magnetic

Best regards,
Dan

Hello Dan,

Unfortunately, the Voos HJ-knife is not a period one in my opinion:

- The cross grain is also not what we expect, it is too scratchy for a 1938 HJ-knife

- Also compare the rivets and the RZM mark with the Voos HJ-knifes below.

- 99% of the original, early 1938 (mottoed) HJ-knifes still had the steel based (magnetic) hilt.

Best regards,

Herman

Here is an overview on the authentic RZM marking by Voos.
