Well I see no posts since Oct!
Think we should have one!
Few yrs ago a guy brought in to a show a helmet his uncle brought home! He was with LST
Uncle said he got it from navy base!
Condition is tough but a heavy plate!
Many wondered what it was used for!
It was spotted in use in a video!
I know the moderator has 1 thats nicer!

Japanese head gear are not my forte, but I believe your helmet was worn by members of the suicide squadrons...if so they are quite rare and also quite valuable to collectors...PL

Welcome to GDC pjmi ... or welcome back !
Looks like frontal armor on it.
The Japanese had Kaiten - or suicide torpedoes. Maybe for that ?

Yes so called suicide boat pilot helmet. This collector myth/theory is impractical and unrealistic. Most collectors, including myself, believe they were a trials or short term production exposed shipboard gunners helmet. Recently this helmet being worn has been found in period film footage but still offers no decisive usage
