Hello and with respect I want to know if this ring is real and not a fantasy ring.

I have never seen this pattern but there were genuine private purchase Third Reich rings that were quite unique. However, without a clear period photo of someone in an SS uniform wearing it or excellent provenance, it is impossible to tell if this is a genuine, private purchase ring from the Third Reich or if it is a postwar item.

It is a nice ring, and I have seen shanks with a similar Art Deco design. Nevertheless, personally, I would not touch it without clear evidence that it is from the period. If this ring is from the same source as the monstrosity that you posted last week (https://forum.germandaggers.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=349170#Post349170), I would run a mile!

I have a couple of SS rings that I hope are from the Third Reich, but my hope is based largely on trusting reputable, known sources. I no longer buy any private purchase so-called 'SS' rings because they are so heavily faked or fantasy pieces. There are known patterns of SS rings but these, too, are widely faked unfortunately.

Interested to see what other, more knowledgable folks think...

Cheers,
Stephen

I see what looks like a hallmark in the band.. Maybe you can post a big clear shot of it... But this ring I would stay away from . SS rings really rare,, gold SS rings VERY rare,,really, never seen one I believed 100% in 40 years except the Sepp D. ring..

IF its real gold and you already own it cash it in,,,Gold is BIG money right now and you could take the money towards a authentic WWII ring.

Check the WestWall rings, Skull rings, and Patriotic rings topics at the top to see what some authentic rings look like...

Most remarkable is the style of this molded ring, it looks more modern, ca 1970 ?

The frontplate has the ss runes on right side .
Normally you would expect from period rings that the SS runes are placed in the centre or semetrical placed on the frontplate.

The frontplate-bottom has an irrigular structure . May be there is sawn off from an existing ring, the front and used that part to make and solder the runes later on it ?

Cotoroanta, Is that a hollow seam at the right rune below left? On the frontplate left, the row little holes look from heating solder-gasbubbles.
Or the runes are cut out of the front.

For an expensive golden ring, the ringfront and the runes are not done well.

The stamps I’ve never seen….. There are no traces of stamp-incuse that consists of a group of letters or figures ; they are all separatly and stamped in different directions. There are additional done lines ; look at the tail of the left 7 and 3. WI (KL or WL) : the l has a scratch/line below. It all looks engraved. The round stamp could be stamped.

There are still many questions and sofar, it s only my observation, opinion.
