Hi all, this will be my first thread. I have HR. The ring was awarded 30.6.34 and is named to one Untersturmfuhrer Otto Moosburger. DOB 13/04/1906, SS Nr. ..489.., Party number 30834. In 1934 he was NCO. He was promoted to rank Untersturmfuhrer - 01/01/1935 from rank Oberscharfuhrer ( SS-Verordnungsblatt from 24/12/1934 - nr.2). In 1939 he was awarded the SS-Ehrendeggen RFSS ( Berichtigungsheft zur Dienstaltersliste V vom 1.Dezember 1938, Stand 15.Juni 1939).
State of service : 1926-1927 joined the SS ( According to so many small numbers SS and NSDAP and according to Sepp Dietrich -SS Nr. 1117 and NSDAP 89015...He joined in 1928.) He served 31 SS-Standarte (Niederbayern - S - Landshut) ...DAL 1935, SS-Stammabt Bez.31. ...DAL 1936/1937., SS-Stammabt Bez.23 ...DAL 1938.
Awarted : SS-Totenkopf honor ring 1934, SS-Ehrendeggen RFSS 1939, Also should be awarted Goldenes Parteiabzeichen der NSDAP (NSDAP nr.30834) and Alter Kampfer. Unfortunately, I did not find in DAL and I have no more information about the owner from 1940-1945. The ring is with Don Boyle COA.

The question is whether he got the ring in 1934 like NCO ( In 1934, the ring was given to all members with a smaller SS number than 3000) or was given in 1935 but dated 30.6.34..........??????

As far as when given out,.. So its dated 1934. If I remember correctly he would have been put in for it in 1933,,then given to him in 34.. Really Himmler could have given this it to him for other reasons as it was at his discretion who got it. . [maybe friend of the family ]..

Hello Stud, a very nice and interesting ring. Due to "The Key" Moosburger´s last appearance in DALs is really in the Dez. 1938 list. Perhaps his personal file would give answer what has happened to him. The ring, to my best knowledge did not appear anywhere in the net (although I have the feeling that I have heard "Moosburger" in connex with a TKR already before. May I ask how did you get this ring?
I do not have the certain regulation at my hands but I remember that it is correct what you mentioned that the ring was given to all members with a smaller SS number than 3000. Therefore he got it as NCO which is quite rare but documented in several cases. It is well known that HH was extremely fuzzy about dates therefore it is highly unassumable if not impossble that the date in the ring is 1935 an he bestowed it later, in 1935.

Yes, the last information about him is from 1939 when he got the SS-degen RFSS. I am glad you like it. Not every day we come across the ring of someone who has such a small SS number and still with the possibility that he got it as an NCO.

Very nice ring to interesting owner with lots of history. Great find!
