I'm a relatively new collector to German Daggers however I've collected bayonets for a few years now. I have the opportunity to buy this dagger and I just thought it would be best to ask some people with more knowledge on the subject then I. My main reservations with this dagger is the gaps from the hilt and the bottom of the blade. Thanks in advance for any advice.

The fit looks good to me, but I am no expert. I have seen the small gaps where the tang passes through the guard a lot. I would be more concerned with the fit at the blade edge to the guard, and that looks good to me. My opinion Ed

The dagger is a genuine and complete early SA dagger made by Kober. But ...
- The blade was once rusted and has been overly cleaned
- At some point, the blade was loose in the grip and (probably) children twisted it left and right, causing the pattern you see in the lower guard, the gap, and the unusual wear to the tang.
- The scabbard has been repainted quite recently
It would be a hard sell in the US, but might fetch $300
