hello
my friend asked me to identificate this dagger
for me its a strange one due to the pointy blade and no markings.i think it may be caused by a cleaning and sharpening,the blade have many scratches along its lenghth.beside this on the edge are signs of sharpening from ricasso to the tip.near ricasso is visible a little humb that can be the remain of original blade widness.what do you think about this observation?
the grips,rivets and diamond seems to be a genuine for You?the diamond show some movement,and on the grips are visible some cracks,so meybe they once belonged to other dagger ?is it real that a maker stamp can be erased by a some clening technic?
i tryied to ID the maker of the knife but this is little hard thing i just found near identivcal ricasso and crossguard piece on this forum but also unmarked-the photo with red dot

Hello Michal,
Your knife is an original WWII HJ-knife, late production, probably 1941 or 1942.
The diamond insignia is most likely a replacement, it appears that someone has removed the original and broke the grip plates in the process.

So do you think this diamond is a repo, or a original replacement???
Just would like to know for my info.
There probably was a lot of swapping to get the better diamond in the better knife, but a lot of work, and risk.

thank you Herman for the response,yes i felt that something is not allright with the grip plates,but also i'm glad that the knife is a period one.
1941-42 i think its a really late one

All production of dress daggers (including HJ-knifes) , swords and dress bayonets was stopped in 1942, when Germany declared "Der totale krieg" or total war: all efforts were put on the war, so dress weapons became an unnecessary luxury.
