Close up. This is the only example I have held. Would be good to see more examples for comparison purposes. --dj--Joe

I have purchased all of my Frau pns from vets or their estate sales. Of the six that I have ...none are 73. I am wondering if any members who do hotel buys have purchased a 73 marked pin from a vet? There was an article published in a "Bender" publication about these being fake but I have not personally read it...have you Joe? What is your opinion on these badges? Best Regards, Duane

Here are my type II staff badges. There is variety of makers. Early ones just have the RZM logo and number (no M1/, so they come from Jan-March, 1935). The RZM maker numbers I have shown are 63, 72, 73 and 102.
The Reich level in the centre with the yellow umrand is the M1/73 badge (Karl Erbacker, Pforzheim).
I have seen the article in Der Gauleiter. The main problem as I recall is the author does not cite his sources for the assertion that these and the Type III M1/24 Staff badge with oakleaves are fakes. I have the article somewhere, so I'll dig it out and check.
To my eye there is nothing that indicates th M1/73 is a fake from the materials, finish, pin or construction. They are completely consistent with other makers.

Duane, I have read the article. Having the badge in hand, I am not convinced that it is a reproduction.

That's an "M1/13" badge (Christian Lauer) instead of an M1/73 badge.

If the article in question is using unsubstantiated facts, I would just consider this to be another opinion by the author. These badges look good to me..no different from my M1/72, M1/13, M1/92 badges. It would personally convince me if I had purchased one from a trusted vet source, but if I acquired one from another source, I would not toss it without some more evidence.. Regards, Duane

As promised here are the two I just got in.
Initially, when I first read the article, I believed it. However, after re reading it several times & studying these badges further (these are the second set that I have been fortunate to own) I don't feel that there is anything wrong with them. As Stephen states, "they are completly consisitent with other makers".
First the yellow.
Cheers Don

Thanks for the update Don.
If I can be crass, what is the Reich Type II actually going for these days? I've seen some crazy numbers, although it is a very, very rare badge.

I couldn't say what the dealers would charge as I don't know of any on sale. However to give you an idea, for the red ones they're asking 480 Euro which I think is about $580 US Cheers Don

That's what I thought - I think my old Husken/Heering reference had the Reich level at 500 DM about 15 years ago.

It's frightening isn't it.... Thankfully, I got a very good deal on these ones.
I've just heard of a yellow DAF being offered up for a price in excess of £600, that's over $1000......
Cheers Don

Anyone recollect seeing the M1/73 leaders badge in blue or black?
Another question, none of my early NSF badges are magnetic, has anyone a magnetic example in their collection? The article referenced some of the early badges being magnetic.

I don't think we are going to get much more out of this one unless new info comes to light.
