well it is the inevitable question. What is the forecast for impact on military shows and the hobby by COVID19? Our country's largest militaria show has already been cancelled for next week in Toronto. What is the potential impact if the MAX and other shows are cancelled within the US and Europe? Predictions are that this will last through the summer. The Canadian dollar has dropped from .76 cents against the US greenback to .68 it has not been this low since the late 1990s The unemployment rate is soaring and bankruptcies are predicted to be castrophobic within the next 6 months. We are slipping into a massive global recession. Opinions?? cheers and best

Good question, Ryan,

Max is 6 months from now, and that's a long time, so hard to guess. Hope it is safe by then and fares well.

In the meantime take into account that much of the militaria sales today are Internet-based rather than show-based. That market is still there.

But lots of people have had their incomes diminished or worse by the closings mandated by various governments. That will diminish sales and make the more fortunate wary of spending too much.

Then there are also the exchange rates as you mention. The UK pound is up vs the US$ but not much else

I suspect that sales will diminish as a result. Just when it seemed to be picking up. As usual, the items that will sell are top conditioned stuff and rare items.

Are you interested in selling on GDC, Ryan ? I could maybe make you a special deal on a Premium Membership.

You are right. The high quality stuff will sell, only to be listed for sale at even a higher price.
Feel sorry for the collectors who will try to sell a few things to make ends meet, there normal good quality items will not bring as much as they should.
I like to go to shows to buy. Was looking forward to the Wilmington Ohio show in June, will wait and see.
But there will probably be no deals there, sellers will want to make the same profit as before the down swing. Try to buy some Silver today. It's at $12.00, but selling for $18.00, if you can find any for sale.
The American way.
Stay safe all

Been keeping an eye on eBay and gun broker and notice for most part people are paying to much for auction items. For me I don't think it;s a good time to sell.
