Gentlemen: I have two hammered navy scabbards I picked up a few years back. I have looked at hundreds of photos but am unable to find any hammered KM scabbards that resemble either of these two. Are there any distinguishing features to identify the maker? I understand that manufacturers would share parts with each other from time to time? Any help greatly appreciated.

Hello Wm Brown, let me welcome you in the forum after your first posting!
For me the one with the engraved eyelets is a (typical) WKC scabbard. TTW now has one (#42553C) which resembles yours 1:1. I am not familiar with the other one in the moment.

- Thank you wotan for your prompt response and welcome.
Looked at the hammered scabbard you referenced on the TTW website. It definitely does resemble the scabbard I have pictured on the red background. I note some discoloration around the bands on my particular example that might be solder or other material used during manufacture? It's not something that I am accustomed to seeing and would of course like to address it if possible.
Thanks again for your courtesy and regards, Bill

Hallo Wm Brown, first I have thought that the mentioned discolorations could be a result of loose scabbard bands and somebody did try to fix them. But partially there is still the original gilding. So I checked carefully and now I think it is simply some moisture which did come into/on these parts. Perhaps due to capillary actions. Although I striktly avoid "cleaning" daggers I would use a little Renaissance Wax at the certain regions to stop possible further corrosion. On the other hand, if not something more dramatic than the discolorations has happened in 70+ years the regions could stay as they are for the next 70+ years . Regards,

Bill I agree with Woton. I would not attempt to clean that scabbard, unless you are willing to wizz the whole thing, (and ruin it). Remove what ever wax will remove, at the most, light oil on a soft cloth, and be happy. Good luck Ed

Hi guys, both scabbards are in my opinion by WKC. Best, Oleg.
