Hello guys!

I am new here and i collect military stuff ever since. I need your help for this dagger. Can?t wait for your opinion. The insignia is not glued or something. It is movable. Zeitler is so rare. I never see one with my own eyes. Sorry for the pics, but it is all about the details.

Best regards

Jan

Hello Ed,

i was also just like astonished seeing this peace! It is even hard to find pictures of this slovakian type and than this, a Zeitler. Mint. Here i need the really Hardcore-Experts. Cause: Most of us regular collectors haven?t seen something like this.

Best regards

Jan

Hello Jan,

Can you please tell me: is the hilt of this knife magnetic?

Best regards,

Herman

@Herman V.: Yes, it is magnetic, but very weak.

Good evening!

Here is a little update:

I wrote with Mr. Wittmann and he said: "Yes, quite rare knife here especially with the issue tags. Good luck with it!"

And in the WAF a member found an identical Zeitler, with the same maker mark, knife: http://www.johnsonreferencebooks.com/shop/hitler-youth-knife-30583/

Hello Jan,

Thanks you for checking the magnetism of the hilt on your knife.

In my opinion, the hilt should be steel based (strongly magnetic) as this is a mottoed (earlier) knife.
Looking at your pictures, the cross grain apperas unusual on your knife and the mark is not the one we normally see for this maker. If you compare to the one sold by Johnson, you will see that the position on the blade is much higher.
I have to conclude that I feel not comfortable with this knife being a period original.
But it would be interesting to have a hands on inspection on this one.

Best regards,

Herman

Hello Herman,

i am 90 % convinced, that this is a good one, but i also see some question marks and do not really know, what to do. Good eye with the position of the makers mark! Maybe the knive is to good to be true? I will try an different magnet tomorrow. I took the weak one from the refrigerator.

Thanks and best regards,

Jan

I know nothing about this knife.
I have been collecting antiques from the time I was 12, I'm 72 this year.
IMHO that paper is not from the 3rd Reich. Even under perfect conditions it would not look brand new.
